Backstory:

When Jack fell, he fell hard.

Jack remembers fire.

Jack remembers falling.

Jack remembers closing his eyes through tears and shutting out the world.

Jack was all alone when The Crash occurred. He was all alone and terrified and frightened. The horizon expanded, the air incinerated and his blood boiled. Everything that could ever happen in the history, present, and future of the world happened all at once and it happened all within the space of an atom in front of Jack. So Jack broke. Jack broke in the face of overwhelming everythingness. Ashes fell as his apartment burned around him. He calmly got up, packed several cans of food, some toiletries, grabbed some bottles of water, and a large kitchen knife and walked out of his burning front door. He paused momentarily to lock it behind him. Shortly thereafter, a little ways down the street, he fainted into a pile of ashes that was once a large Great Dane named Mister Sprinkles.

In the hugest sense of the idea, Jack's mind took his ball and went home and fuck you assholes.

Jack woke up to silence. He collected his things, composed himself, looked around, and once again set off down the road.

Jack moved from whatever settlement he could find as soon as possible. Jack didn't appreciate sitting and waiting. He was sitting and waiting when The Crash happened. Best keep moving, just in case. He'd met with some friendly Freakers headed south. They said they were headed to Mexico. That didn't seem like a great idea so Jack did not go. Now his brainstem itched.

He did feel good, though. A little stronger than before, a little faster maybe. He felt a little more in the flow than he had in a while. At least food was easier to find lately, he'd found plenty just wandering around. He smelled it, he was sure. Can you smell a sealed jar of pickles? Probably.

Appearance:

Before The Crash, Jack was a blond-haired man of medium build. His mutations have finally gotten the better of him. Recent changes have stretched his muscles, and snapped his bones. He now walks the new RAD Earth as a large Spider-like creature. The remnants of his old duster hand from his body and legs. He has long since abandoned his crossbow, pipe and bindle, opting for taking his food where he can and discovering his new legs have more stopping power than the crude device ever did. His body is covered with hard chitinous scales on his back, and his green and tan legs end in sharp points. The flesh from his face continues to peel away, revealing sharp bone structures coming from his face. His lower jaw has mutated into a mandible of the same material as his scales. His hands have grown and sharpened, fashioning themselves into claws that, while menacing, are still as dexterous and usable as his previous human hands. the flesh and skin also seems to be peeling from a few other areas of his body, now.

Personality:

Jack's not a troublemaker, he'd rather just wait a little. He likes to watch the world. Jack had once thought of searching for his mother, but he now knows that she's probably dead. Too much has happened in the world, and she wasn't terribly fit before the Crash.  He's not one to throw anything away needlessly. He'll fight for what's his but he'll support those around him as long as he's taken care of first.

He thinks in italics. A rare gift.

Jack has been steadily mutating further and further away from what he once was. Jack's demeanor and mood have been slowly deteriorating as of late. He's been more quick to annoy, more rash, and more prone to quick decision. You sometimes see a flash of something come across his face, as if he's dealing with some internal issue.  Although he is far from saddened or angry, there are some hasty decisions slipping into his lifestyle that he normally would not attempt. The Crash has finally affected him physically in a meaningful way. Shortly after meeting Cassandra at the Alcatraz base, Jack mutated again; stretching and growing into a larger arachnid-type creature. While he still instills distrust in people he might meet and want to trade with, there's still a human component to his face and eyes that stops most from instantly labeling him a monster.

Jack would like to find out just what is causing his continued mutation. He can feel the RAD seep into his bones and nerves. He wishes to be able to prevent it from sending him too far down his apparent mutating path. Hopefully he can get to it and halt it in time before it turns him into an unthinking and unfeeling monster.
