For years, there was a lone bull shark that had patrolled the world's seas, living a free, solitary life of maritime hunts and conflict with all manner of aquatic adversaries; solitary, at least, until a feeding frenzy presented itself, where he and his carnivorous brethren would bask in a gluttonous blood-filled orgy and retreat back to their respective submarine endeavors.

It was during one of such feeding frenzies that the shark was captured. A boat of opportunistic fishermen had come seeking an easy prize from a large school of prey fish, so large that the predatory feeding sharks that gorged themselves within were completely hidden by their quarry. When the fishermen drew up their nets, they found an unexpected treasure in their haul: one very angry, and very confused, bull shark.

In surprise, the boat's captain stepped forward and laid a hand on the thrashing sea-predator before him. At that moment, the world broke. There was a flash of green, an ear-rending noise, and the shark, the captain, and the boat were gone.

Miles away, a creature awoke on solid land. A humanoid form, an amalgamation of the characteristics of man and shark, gifted with a predator's brain and a pair of arm-blades that had once been fins.
